We are LOCAL ATTORNEYS, not a branch office for an out-of-town firm. We know the Court systems for Montgomery, Stewart, Houston, Robertson, Cheatham and Dickson Counties, as well as having an active practice in Federal District Court in Nashville. We DO NOT PASS OFF CLIENTS TO SECRETARIES, who are often called “case managers”, but assure that an ATTORNEY HANDLES AND CONTROLS EVERY FACET OF THE CASE.
Before hiring an injury attorney, ask the following questions:
1. Are you a Certified Injury Law Specialist (certified by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization)?
Our Answer: Mark Rassas was one of the first State and Nationally certified trial lawyers in Tennessee.
2. How many years have you been practicing in Clarksville?
Our Answer: Since 1976. Our law firm was established in Clarksville in 1947.
3. What is your personal experience in actually trying cases to a jury in Clarksville?
Our Answer: In order to be certified and re-certified as a specialist, we are required to submit proof that we actually try a significant number of jury cases. Insurance companies know this and they also know which lawyers have little or no trial experience.
4. Will the attorney handle my case and return my calls or will my case be passed to a secretary called a “case manager”?
Our Answer: We don’t employ “case managers”. When you hire a lawyer, you get a lawyer.
5. Will I be able to see an attorney at any time or will I first be screened or be required to deal with a secretary called a “case manager”?
Our Answer: We have a staff of experienced paralegals and legal professionals, but you can ALWAYS see your lawyer.
6. Is your firm “A” rated by Martindale-Hubbell?
Our Answer: Yes.
7. Does the attorney, who is responsible for my case, live in Clarksville or merely commute from another county?
Our Answer: Mark Rassas is a life-long resident of Clarksville. His father, Waldo Rassas, maintained an active Clarksville law practice for over 50 years. His father-in-law, Ted Crozier, Sr., was Clarksville’s mayor. His family lives here. His home phone number is published in the Clarksville directory.
Sadly, too many clients do not receive answers to these questions until after they have signed a representation agreement. It costs no more to hire an experienced professional, and sometimes, the fees are actually less.
The attorneys at RASSAS, NORTH & ASSOCIATES are proud of their answers to the above questions because of their qualifications and experience as local attorneys who know the system.
WHAT TO DO
Injury Claims:
If you are injured in an accident caused by someone else, do the following:
• Immediately notify the police (or if you are injured because of a fall or other accident, notify the property owner).
• Seek immediate medical attention.
• Document your claim. Take photographs of the scene, all vehicles, and take photographs of your injuries. Try to get names and telephone numbers of all witnesses.
• Do not give a recorded statement or sign a release without legal advice.
• Notify your own insurance company.
• Call our office for a case evaluation at no charge.
Worker's Compensation Claims:
If you are hurt at work, the law requires you to take certain steps to preserve your claim:
• Give notice to your employer, in writing, within 30 days.
• Request that your employer or worker's compensation insurance company provide the names of three doctors, and before making a selection, check them out.
• Do not give a tape recorded statement or sign a release without legal advice.
Claims against the Government:
Claims against state and federal governments, either medical malpractice claims or other injury claims, are handled differently. A notice of claim must be given within a limited time or such claim may be forever barred.
